Design of Spreading Codes for NavIC

A principal goal in the project is to design spreading codes with desirable properties such as balance and low correlation that enable an intended receiver to determine positioning, time and velocity information by locking on to the signals of satellites comprising the NavIC system.

This project is a follow-up project to a recent successful collaborative effort between the IISc PI and collaborating scientists from ISRO that resulted in the design of a novel, indigenous and efficient IZ4 family of spreading codes, that will be incorporated by ISRO into its L1-band signal and which can be found described at the two links provided below. Collaborating ISRO scientists on the follow-up project include Ms. Sugandh Mishra (SAC) and Dr. Dileep Dharmappa (ISTRAC).

  1. NavIC L1 adopts indigenous digital codes designed by ISRO and IISc

  2. Designing the IZ4 Family of Spreading Codes for the NavIC L1 Signal
