Space-craft related operations are manifold; for sensitive close-proximity operations such as docking and soft-landing autonomous guidance is necessary. 'Model Predictive Static Programming' has matured over the last 15 years, but more work is required on its extensions and applications to challenging problems. Our group is working on aspects of such autonomous guidance that can be applied to various future space missions. The team is using concepts of optimal, nonlinear and neuro-adaptive control (AI-enabled autopilot) to propose implementable robust guidance and control logics for various challenging space missions.
